本港遊艇業在疫情期間逆市造好，不過隨著疫後市民開始外遊、股市樓市氣氛低迷，去年新遊艇銷售按年急跌至少三成，但即使如此，遊艇泊位仍然長期供不應求。
疫情冰封各行各業，不過遊艇買賣反而非常熾熱，2019至2022年四年間，新領牌遊艇更有百分之二十增長。
香港遊艇業總會主席周基倫說：「疫情時你都知道，每個人都困在香港，沒有其他地方遊玩，變相人們便想到要買船。」
新船落海之後，每年都會跌價約百分之十，當中又以較多機械部件的機動船折舊最快，但受惠疫情期間船價升值，令部分船主轉手都沒有蝕錢。
周基倫表示：「因為那時有通脹，新船價值都高了，可能升了百分之10至15左右，變相有人放售二手船，那時放售其實沒有虧損。」
隨著疫後市民開始外遊，加上股市、樓市向下，拖累2023年新艇銷售按年急跌至少三成，二手遊艇放盤更增加近五成，但即使如此，遊艇泊位仍供不應求。
泓亞保險顧問創辦人何偉樂稱：「泊位最主要有兩類，一類就是遊艇會，橋位很好，你可以走下去、有水電供應，這個就最方便，亦有遊艇會提供浮泡泊位。如果你申請政府泊位，輪候非常久，至少超過十年。」
根據海事處的數字，2013年至2022年十年間，持牌遊艇數目由8,491隻，增至12,378隻，升幅近百分之45；反觀政府的私用浮泡只有約2千個，遊艇會數目及避風塘面積亦沒有增加。
有業界建議在西貢白沙灣設置兩個防波堤及擴建西貢避風塘等，以增加泊位。
周基倫指出：「可以阻擋風浪，這個範圍亦可能可放置更多船，我們估計(這裡)可以多放百分之15或更多船。」
業界又表示，香港擁有免稅及豐富海資源等條件，增加泊位容量，有助鞏固香港作為亞洲主要遊艇交易中心的地位。
